重陽の節句の風習、菊の被綿に由来する和菓子。重陽前夜、菊の花を真綿で覆って夜露と香りを移しとり、翌朝、その綿で体や顔を拭うというものです。そうすれば老いが去り、長寿を保つと信じられていました。練り切り製。

Kisewata, a traditional sweet for the Chrysanthemum Festival, represents the ancient Japanese custom known as kiku no kisewata. This custom involves covering chrysanthemum flowers with cotton on the eve of this festival to absorb the night dew and fragrance. The next morning, one cleanses their body and face with this cotton to wish for health and longevity.　Made of nerikiri.
